I’m a former haulage contractor who managed the business for 10 years.
I gave it up to start full time employment again and over the next 10 years, I have consistently worked towards qualifying as a senior international training instructor.
Since early 2017 I have been developing and growing my online business and joined membership a mentors company which was a very good decision because I’m now surrounded by like-minded people and I have invested in a quality product that gives excellent value all year long.
Not all training is automated, and as I really enjoy training and will travel to any country today to deliver world-class training through international awarding bodies such as CIEH, NEBOSH, HABC, IPAF, CPC, CITB and PASMA, yet I wonder about the direction all this is going because of automation and how it will affect other instructor jobs in the future.
By re-skilling and developing my online business it allows me to reach and help even more people but this time to transition from their traditional working employment into the new digital economy.
I have worked extensively on the Doha metro rail underground network in Qatar preparing for the 2022 world cup where they have driverless trains.
I have owned a property business for 17 years and have an accountant and agent who manages that for me.
It wasn’t easy getting myself qualified for all the things I wanted to do. I left school at 16 years old in December 1983 with only a standard high school education achieved. I did well in some of my subjects but never did the exams.
For the next 11 years, I gained trade and college certificate’s through employment and regretted not doing the exams in school or going to university. When I was 27 years old my morale hit rock bottom, in fact when I visited the doctor he put me on anti-depressants. Later that year my brother Steven gave me a book called 100% mind power by Jack Addington and after I read it, I decided what I really wanted was a financial freedom lifestyle and I tried to achieve this through traditional self-employment.
I started my own haulage business the following year and a few years later started buying into the property market becoming a property landlord.
I used to love photography when I was younger and for years would photograph my kids with a 35mm film camera using kodak or Fuji 400 film and a 300mm zoom lenses on a tripod and photographed a few weddings of friends and family and then send the camera spools off to be developed and hope the photos would turn out well.
A friend of mine managed a junior football team and asked me to sponsor them which I did by purchasing a football kit for each of the boys with my transport business name on all the tops, that was cool.
I supported sponsor a child campaign, UNICEF, Save the Children, Water Aid, Farm Africa and some Cancer charities,
My wife and met in 1983 and we have three sons 37, 24 and 21. As the boys were going through primary school I used to tell them from time-to-time your dad went to university and got himself a math’s degree, by the time they found out I hadn’t, the seed was already planted and my oldest Son now heads the math’s department in Grammar high school with the other two following suit.
When it comes to trading, I have observed when one holds the best interest of other people at heart, am I providing this person value for money and will it benefit them. When I did this then success would follow, and it does.
I have experienced Both situations of having extra finance but no but no free time to enjoy it and times where I had more freedom but no money to enjoy it I decided it was time to seek a better balance in life by working towards creating my own online business.
Financial independence for me means the freedom to work from a laptop and internet connection, maintaining the business and working a fraction of the hours previously worked but still receiving a full monthly salary and not having to imprison myself in an Office, a factory or Depot, or a HGV Truck, Bus or Car for 15 hours a day, freedom to travel and live my life.
